AIGA’s Get Out the Vote project invites designers to create nonpartisan posters and videos that inspire the American public to participate in the electoral process and vote in the 2012 general election.

By motivating eligible citizens to register and turn out on election day, Get Out the Vote fulfills an ongoing AIGA objective of demonstrating the value of design to the public, public officials and business by providing a clear call to action for an activity that is important to everyone.

All posters are available as PDFs in the Get Out the Vote virtual gallery [link] for you to browse and share with friends. Print out your favorite posters and hang them around your neighborhood to help Get Out the Vote!

While I do value voting as an inalienable right, I feel that many Americans should not vote simply because many are not informed or educated enough to cast a valuable ballot. Case in point: [link]

I'm a bit curious as to the crown, an obvious symbol of monarchy.

If you think about it, a coats of arms in general are an upper class and regal affectation. But I was thinking of more generalized victory symbols. Brass ring seemed anticlimactic in the context of the rest of the imagery...

"The Lion and the Unicorn were fighting for the crown: The Lion beat the Unicorn all round the town. Some gave them white bread, some gave them brown; Some gave them plum-cake and drummed them out of town."

-Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (Lewis Carroll)
Through the Looking-Glass, ch.7, 'The Lion and the Unicorn'.
